  • Target Variable: The forecast model is trained to predict the NED.NL solar generation estimate which is based on approximations for all solar capacity in the Netherlands such as from households and solar farms alongside using ENTOSE data.   • Input data:
    • ECMWF NWP forecasts for ~20 variables such as cloud cover, temperature, visibility and solar irradiance at hourly resolution.
    • EUMETSAT Rapid Scanning Service (RSS) geostationary satellite capturing 12 different visible and infrared input channels at 5 minutely resolution.
    • Solar positioning features.
    • Ned.NL updated generation estimations.
  • Temporal Resolution: 15-minute intervals.
  • Forecast Update Frequency: The forecast is generated once per hour, on the hour. (Note: Update frequency will be increased in a future release).
  • Horizons: 0-36 hours ahead.
  • Model: A variation of our state of the art PVNet architecture has been used. You can read more about the model architecture in a paper that we published here.
